Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, UC Merced

Jeanette is a Fire Scientist contributing to the small-scale burn experiments for the Fuel Mapping & Fire Physics Team. An Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at UC Merced, she has research interests in the use of experiments to gain fundamental understanding of wildfire behavior and using remote sensing data to derive data-driven models of regional wildfire behavior, as well as science communications and outreach. She previously served as a postdoctoral scholar at the Combustion Fire Processes Laboratory at UC Berkeley, where she worked on smoldering fire behavior in simulated wildland fuels. Jeanette holds a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from UC Riverside and a master’s in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.
